GRACE RETREAT 2009

We just attended the Grace Retreat at the Palace of the Golden Horses (Kuala Lumpur)

8th to 12th June .....

Pastor Sam, Pastor Goodall and Pastor Lim were such inspirations!

And God said, "No"

I asked God to take away my pride, and God said "No"
He said it was not for Him to take away, but for me to give it up

I asked God to make a handicapped child whole, and God said "No"
He said her spirit is whole; her body is temporary

I asked God to grant me patience, and God said "No"
He said patience is a by-product of tribulation, it is not granted but earned

I asked God to give me happiness, and God said "No"
He said He gives blessings; happiness is my choice

I asked God to spare me pain, and God said "No"
He said suffering draws me apart from the worldly cares, and brings me closer to knowing Him

I asked God if He loves me, and God said "YES"
He gave His only Son who died for me, and I will be heaven some day b'cos I believe in Him wholeheartedly

I asked God to help me love others as much as He loves me, and God said
"AH, finally you have the idea"

Sharing family values

Many years from today, when our lives cease to live on earth, what remains are the values and impressions that we have on the hearts and minds of the people that we come in contact with during our life time ......

Learning from an extract from Jame R. Fisher, Jr, we must build success with people in our everyday life situation - "Do Unto Others"
Our world is governed by universal laws .... like it or not. James shared some of these in his writings .... possibly influenced from the Great Book

To have a friend, you must BE A FRIEND, starting with yourself (The greatest hunger a person has is to be needed. Help create that feeling in others)

The greatest virtue is KINDNESS - Whilst you cannot love everyone, you can be kind to everyone. (Don't try to impress others, let them have fun of impressing you)

Be ENTHUSIASTIC - Nothing of consequence was ever achieved without enthusiasm

Be POSITIVE. Positive people attracts others, while negative people repel (You have a greater impact on othersby the way you listen than by the way you talk)

Gossip cheapens the one who gossips more than the one gossiped about (Call a person by his/her name and use it often in the conversation)

Communicate CHEERFULNESS (Differences are bound to occur and can be resolved if conflict is managed in a polite manner)

If you are given to making fun of someone, be sure it is of yourself (Be genuinely interested in others. Get them to talk about themselves)

A SMILE doesn't cost anything, but pays BIG DIVIDENDS. Not only does it make you feel good, but it makes everyone else feel better too (Be the first to say, "Hello! Good to see you"

DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU

Are we blinded by the things on this earth?

Alas, we sometimes forget, that with each passing moment, many do not see the light that we are to shine for Him ......



Having heard from P.Rutherford, who started the Teen Challenge work in Singapore back in the 80's, I am reminded of the many who have ran the race before us, and have left the footprints in the sand on the journey towards the Mansion over the Hilltop



Going back to the roots of our basic Christian living, I am attaching something from a man I once heard in my Christian journey learning about "Living in the Light of Eternity" - Learning to pray
